Transportation of Dangerous Goods

TDG is the ultimate course. If you’re a shipper, receiver, driver, or handler this course will assure that your knowledge of the regulations behind shipping and receiving dangerous goods is up-to-date.

This 4-hour Transportation of Dangerous Goods course covers the regulations required that every employee handling, offering for transport or transporting dangerous goods within Canada and the USA, has TDG training and holds a valid TDG Certificate (with some exceptions).

WHMIS (GHS)

This 4-hour course familiarizes workers with the updated International WHMIS system used to provide safety information about hazardous products in the workplace. Participants will learn about the new and updated symbols and their meanings, which are now called WHMIS pictograms, the labels on products, and new SDS (Safety Data Sheets). This course also includes valuable practical advice, so you will know basic health and safety measures to protect yourself and prevent workspace injuries and illness.

St. John Ambulance Intermediate First Aid

This 2-day (16-hour) St. John Ambulance course covers all the skills in Basic First Aid, plus first aid for other injuries and illnesses including head and spinal injuries and fractures of the upper and lower limbs.

H2S Alive Blended Renewal

  • Students must complete all elements of the blended learning in full. Students who miss any course content cannot be certified and registration fees will not be reimbursed
  • Only students with a current H2S Alive certificate may register for the H2S Alive Blended Renewal.
  • Registration does not extend the current certificate.
  • Participants must be able to put on a mask and breathe under air.
  • Participants must be able to participate in rescue drag techniques.
  • Basic literacy and understanding in the language the course is being taught is required.
  • After completing the online portion, students have 90 days to complete the skills assessment through an ATP in order to be certified.
Skill Assessment

For the skills assessment, students should wear sturdy footwear and clothing compatible with the activity and movement associated with rescue techniques and donning/doffing of an SCBA.

Requirements:

All participants are required to be clean shaven to ensure negative pressure tests during the skills assessment. It is encouraged that those with long hair wear a ponytail or a braid. Participants must complete the training every 3 years.

Ticket/Certification

Upon successful completion of the online theory exam with a minimum score of 70%, students will be eligible to complete the skills assessment.

Successful completion of the skills assessment will result in a Certificate of Completion that is valid for three years. 

Should a student be unsuccessful in either the online theory or skills assessment on the first attempt, they will be required to attend classroom delivery of H2S Alive to achieve their certification.

H2S Alive

This 8-hour course is intended for all workers in the petroleum industry who could be exposed to hydrogen sulphide (H2S), commonly known as sour gas. The primary focus is to provide generic H2S program content to help workers work safely in and around H2S environments. The program covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to protect oneself and basic rescue techniques. Each student is required to operate a self-contained breathing apparatus, and conduct rescue lift and drag exercises.

We also offer the H2S Alive Blended Renewal course to renew your current certificate. As well as the in-person skills assessment.

Ground Disturbance -Level ll

This one-day 8 hr program is designed for any party that is supervising a Ground Disturbance, independently performing a Ground Disturbance, or issuing and receiving Ground Disturbance permits. The program ensures that Level II® personnel are familiar with, and fully understand, all the regulations and variances involved when a Ground Disturbance takes place. The course is presented in a logical sequence – from the pre-planning stage to the actual dig – and highlights the ‘musts’ compared to the ‘shoulds’. Level II® is the standardized program recognized by industry regulators. Certification is valid for 3 years. This course is assessed to the USP 201 Ground Disturbance Standard. 

“New” to Training Inc.

The Ground Disturbance Level II® classroom course has been endorsed to the BCCGA Ground Disturbance 201 Standard (British Columbia).  It will be possible for a student to complete multiple jurisdiction training in the same day by completing a Ground Disturbance Level II® class with one addendum and then completing the required additional training for the second addendum afterwards. Managing Food Safety (MFS)

North American Cargo Securement

Please Note:  North American Cargo Securement is available directly from worksitesafety.ca for those who have a computer or mobile device, and do not require technology assistance.

This course is self-paced and usually takes about 2-hours to complete. Based on the National Safety Code for Motor Carriers Standard 10 Cargo Securement. This standard covers commercial vehicles, including a combination of vehicles, that are operated on a highway and have a gross vehicle rating over 4,500kg (10,000lb). The standard also applies to any cargo and hazardous material that will travel in a vehicle matching the associated description or will travel on the highway.

The course will also cover all responsibilities of the driver, shipping company, and receivers. Course Overview

1. Core Program Requirements

The first section of this online course provides a history of the National Safety Code for Cargo Securement, an overview of the fundamental inspection and securement requirements, the components used to secure cargo to the vehicle, and the laws and responsibilities of all parties involved in the transportation of secured cargo.

2. Securing Specific Materials

The second section of this course will go over a large number of the specific materials named in the National Safety Code, and how to properly position the cargo in or on a truck, what tiedowns to use, and how to respond to emergency situations. These materials include cars, concrete structures, hazardous materials, energy sector equipment, and lumber products.

Common Safety Orientation (CSO)

This 2 – 4-hour multimedia program is available by appointment in Cardston, Pincher Creek, and Lethbridge. The Common Safety Orientation (CSO) is intended for new workers in the oil and gas industry. With content that is driven and endorsed by the safety industry, the CSO provides consistent safety messaging that clearly explains safe work practices and eliminates the need for redundant general orientation training.

This course is proctored, which includes ID verification and confirmation of the person taking the exam. If verification is compromised, certification will not be validated – the user will need to retake the course.

Students must register 1-day prior to taking the course in order to meet Energy Safety Canada registration requirements. Students must also have a valid email to participate in this course.

Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)

This 2-hour Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) course is comprised of 9 modules designed for the individual worker and is offered only through eLearning. The training can be completed at your own pace, and the full program takes on average ninety minutes to two hours to complete. CSTS gives a basic overview of various health and safety topics, and students are tested for mastery of the content. This program is a pre-entry requirement for many construction and industry work sites.

Students must register 1-day prior to taking the course in order to meet registration requirements.
